I only read a few sentences or paragraphs, not a whole chapter, sometimes from the middle. That recently backfired, though, because I picked up a library book, read a cool paragraph about a cool woman, and then got it home to realize the book – and series – was mostly about her guy partner who was horribly annoying from the first sentence about him. DNF'd and now I'm trying to figure out where I set it down, so I can return it.
Forgetting the crucial step! You gotta source whats out there too. So its bookstore time, and then the thrifter. You never know.
Also. You gotta remember that new books in your home make the others skiddish, so you keep them in a pile or the bag you got them in for a month, so they can adjust.
And then when you go "The hells this bag?" its like christmas.
Simple. Whenever I can’t choose I ask someone else to choose a random number and assign the number to each book. And when they pick it, I don’t read the book they picked cause I realized that I actually wanted to read THE other one
I force myself to read the first chapter of a book in order to read it at all It’s difficult for me to get into a book, I’m not much of a reader But I have been reading more lately
My best tip: go to the library. Find a few books that sound interesting. Check out and take them home. Now you have a deadline so you best get to reading, bestie 😃
and that would work, except i'm a manhwa/webtoon/ao3 reader who has a few hundred different series going on at the same time right now and i'm pretty whelmed
I'm the opposite. There are few books I'd reread, even if they're favorites, but I'm constantly reading multiple series at a time. In high school, I'd check out the maximum (~5) amount from the school library, then check out a stack from my belt to my chin from the public library! I got them all back on time, and it was rare for me to not finish every book. Somehow, I keep all the storylines straight, but I can't remember most titles or authors' names to save my life! 😅
this is literally what I have been doing for the past month 😂 I've started so many books but I haven't finished a new one since September. I have however reread four books

Looking through the comments, I get the impression that I am unusual.
I NEVER re-read books. I always feel like there are too many great books out there waiting to be read that I haven't read yet.
Been doing that for years right now i have 283 books to finish
This is the only way I know how! 😂😅📖

The way my partner pointedly stared at me as I watched this… 😅
And don’t forget the most important step: buy more books.

Once I start a book I have to finish it. No matter how bad or how boring it is I NEED TO FINISH IT.
