The new Ultimate Hawkeye, Charli Ramsey, made a splash for being of Indigenous heritage in Marvel’s Ultimates #5. However, they have another claim to fame: they’re non-binary.
Writer Deniz Camp revealed the info on X (formerly Twitter) in response to questions from readers. Said Camp: “There have been a lot of questions about Charli’s gender and I’m wary to talk about this stuff outside the book itself. It feels a bit like cheating. But I know it means a lot to people, so I wanted to make a comment.
“When I did my research into the water protectors/Standing Rock, something that was emphasized again and again was the importance of queer and “‘two spirit’ organizers to the movement. I wanted to put that into the book.
“So, yes, Charli’s pronouns are they/them. I didn’t want to make a big deal of it, because it’s not in the book itself, and because I don’t think Charli would make a big deal out of it in that context. But we’ll make this explicit when it’s natural to the narrative.”
So after we made a big deal about it with this news item, let’s just leave it on this: great job, Camp. Looking forward to more from Charli.

Indigenous AND Nonbinary?!? Oh yeah, this'll do numbers.
Damn. They already bombed once with this shit
NO ONE CARES WHAT GENDER THEY ARE JUST GIVE US GOOD STORIES
Unfortunately after reading ultimates #5 I cancelled my comic book subscriptions for all the ultimates. Good story lines up until this point. Spider-Man has been amazing, same with Black panther. Disney needs to stop pushing this shit on paying customers…. Look at the numbers your audience just wants to be entertained. Not be guilted and shamed while paying for it. Do better Disney and maybe I'll be back someday to re-invest In the books I fell in love with as a child. Thank you for making this decision easier with your continued failures in the marvel universe, Deadpool & wolverine gave us all hope and this just destroyed it!!!
