Qui était ce roi et que nous révèle son tombeau sur la culture thrace ? A-t-il été inhumé selon la coutume thrace des rites orphiques et que sait-on aujourd’hui de ces rites secrets qui promettaient la vie éternelle ?La recherche de l’identité permet d’attribuer le tombeau au roi Seuthès III. Avec l’aide d’archéologues et d’historiens qui déchiffrent les vestiges laissés par ce roi, le film reconstitue le puzzle de la vie de Seuthès III, roi moderne ouvert à l’hellénisation, roi guerrier opposé à la puissance macédonienne, roi prêtre attaché à la conservation des rites de la culture thrace.

This documentary is fantastic. It puts Thrace back in the spotlight for anyone who dedicates themselves to studying the Ancient World. Thrace is the birthplace of the philosophy of Socrates and Plato. Wow… this is something new to me, as I had never really paid much attention to the mention of Thrace in Plato's work and in Socrates' biography. Thinking about it, this makes sense, because both are very different from everything that intellectually preceded them in Athens. I had never seen anything about King Seuthes.
