I'd definitely consider them listening rather than reading. Using your auditory processing neurons to translate vibrations of the inner ear canal hairs into sound is a completely different process than inverting the colour and light detected by the rods and cones in your retina 180 degrees and deciphering what the shapes mean.
I'd consider it more listening, but it is still helpful and educational. You're still getting the knowledge the way it works best for you. That's what matters!
